MARYBOROUGH - DASH FOR CASH
Sprintcars Admin posted Friday March 14, 2014.

Sprintcars Queensland travelled to Maryborough Speedway last Saturday night to put on our annual Dash-for-Cash, and while the car count was a bit down the feature race gave race fans some thrilling action.

Time trials saw Peter Lack, Bryan Mann, Andrew Scheuerle, Jamie Bricknell (Q36) and Kevin Titman all getting down in the 11 second time bracket. With only .031 between all five drivers we knew the racing would be very close.

We only completed the first two heats before rain came to wash out our second round of heats and dash with our heat winners being Brent Kratzmann and Luke Oldfield who both put in great drives.

Our 30 lap A Main was a drama filled affair with the field taking the green and having chaos ensure at the start finish line brining on the first yellow. Peter Lack and Danny Reidy both needed tyre changes which put them to the rear along with the other drivers that stopped. The next attempt at a race start went well until turn three when Luke Oldfield got loose and spun, Brent Kratzmann had nowhere to go and flipped heavily over Lukes car and out of the race, destroying a brand new car, Paul Rooks got caught up in the incident as well and had to go to the rear with Luke. Andrew took over at the front and started to really dominate the race but Bryan Mann was staying close. On lap 20 Dan Moes in only his second drive in a sprintcar then had a nasty flip which saw the Maryborough based driver transported to hospital after the meeting with possible rib damage. On the restart Kevin Titman spun and Luke Oldfield stopped and had to go to the rear with Kevin for the restart. What was unfolding through all of this was a trilling drive from Peter Lack storming from the rear and passing most cars on the outside where the track was still greasy. Peter actually got up to second passing Bryan, but not to be out done Bryan got by Peter with a handful of laps to go - we got to the white flag and Peter had one last go but came unstuck in turn three flipping his Q58 car violently. Andrew had taken the chequer when the dust (mud) settled Andrew was the deserving winner ahead of Bryan Mann, Paul Morris after being caught up in the first lap incident drove into a strong third place with Jamie Bricknell also coming from the rear to finish fourth.

The Maryborough fans certainly got their monies worth.

Sprintcars Queensland returns to our home base at Supercheap Archerfield Speedway this Saturday 15th of March for KRE Rnd 11, come out and watch our guys hard and see if any one can stop Andrews march to KRE Championship glory.
